Lauren Overby has quickly moved up the ranks at Deveney Communication. Lauren joined the firm after being a successful leader in Deveney's Senior Associate Program. Since joining, she has taken the lead on several accounts in the Lifestyle sector, including FELD Entertainment (Monster Jam, Disney On Ice and Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey), Rock 'n' Roll Mardi Gras Marathon and 1/2 Marathon, and Tour de Lis, a local bike ride to support and fund cancer awareness in the community. Lauren also leads the account for the local office of Fisher and Phillips, focusing on nationwide employment and labor law issues. Additionally, she has provided support for many of Deveney's clients in the healthcare industry including Medicare-benefits provider Peoples Health, New Orleans' only community based, not-for-profit faith-based hospital, Touro Infirmary, and the Valentine Medical Center, a leading regional internal medicine and pediatrics provider.
Lauren obtained her bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from the University of Alabama in May of 2009. Prior to joining Deveney, she completed internships with Jeff Dezen Public Relations where she worked mainly on the Verizon Wireless, Fatz Café and Bridgestone Golf accounts, and Blumer & Associates CPAs in Greenville, SC. In her undergraduate career, Lauren also worked with the Blackburn Institute in Tuscaloosa, AL, where she developed and implemented a PR campaign that has been integrated into the nonprofits organization’s marketing strategy, to develop and train future leaders for the State of Alabama. She has also assisted with marketing campaigns for several non-profit organizations, including the Tuscaloosa Red Cross and Tuscaloosa Humane Society.
From her experience, she understands that successful and strategic integrated communication is vital to a company’s success in achieving its objectives and career goals. She has enjoyed working with clients from the initial phases of projects to their conclusion. Her specialties are in writing and editing press materials such as press releases, communication strategies, media pitches and blog posts.
