In memoriam:

Andy Cole has taken a very circuitous route through life. Growing up in New Orleans and along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Andy began a career in communications after serving in the United States Marine Corps. While at the University of Southern Mississippi earning his Journalism/Mass Communication degree, Andy worked as an announcer at several Hattiesburg radio stations, and at WLOX- TV in Biloxi, MS. After his studies, Andy moved through the ranks of newsrooms throughout the Southeast as an award winning television reporter, producer and anchor, and as the metro editor of a daily newspaper in Florence, SC.

During his career as a journalist, Andy covered a broad range of issues, from politics to travel, and over time he developed a specialty in business journalism. From complicated mergers and acquisitions, to coverage of small business development, he always focused on what the story meant to the reader, viewer or listener. Andy brings a valuable and unique ability to view public relations through the eyes of a journalist, giving him the ability to identify interesting and newsworthy story ideas.

While building his communication expertise, Andy continued to serve his country in the Army National Guard, and was deployed to Iraq from 2004 to 2005. After returning him he moved into the fast lane of public relations, working as the company spokesperson for a nuclear power plant in South Carolina. In that role, he managed internal and external communications, media relations, government relations and community relations for a Fortune 250 company.

In 2011, Andy returned back home to NOLA, and began a freelance communication consulting business, working with small businesses, non-profits and start-up businesses before joining Deveney in early 2012. Andy works with clients including the Louisiana Office of Tourism, New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau, Flextronics, ExxonMobil, Chalmette Refinery, and University of Phoenix.

Andy is the undisputed music aficionado at Deveney and enjoys taking in as many local music performances as he can with his wife of 13 years.
